LATEST REGISTRATIONS – SNAPCHAT HIRES UP: Photo-messaging startup Snapchat has hired Jochum Shore & Trossevin for lobbying work related to data privacy, security and other policies relevant to application-based companies, according to a new lobbying registration. This is the second time the company has hired lobbyists since it launched in 2011; last January it hired Heather Podesta + Partners in the wake of a massive data breach that prompted calls for legislative action on data security. Last month, the company took a big step toward becoming a media platform, partnering with CNN, National Geographic, Comedy Centraland several others to distribute content to users’ phones. Jochum Shore’s Andrew Shore, James Jochum, Darin Gardner, Marguerite Trossevin and Michael Katz will lobby on behalf of Snapchat. Shore, Jochum and Gardner are former Hill staffers, and Shore previously served as chief of staff of the House Republican Conference. Jochum and Trossevin were previously officials at the Department of Commerce.
