Andrew Shore, founding partner of Jochum Shore & Trossevin and Black Swan LLC., to Appear March 27th On The Neal Asbury Show on WZAB-AM
Andrew Shore is a founding partner of Jochum Shore & Trossevin and Black Swan LLC. Previously, he was a Partner in the Washington, DC office of Mayer, Brown LLP. Throughout his career, Mr. Shore has played a role in developing and advancing public policy in the areas of trade, health and tax.
Prior to joining Mayer, Brown, Mr. Shore was the Chief of Staff for the House Republican Conference, chaired by former-Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH). The Conference Chairman is the fourth ranking Member of the House Republican Leadership. The Conference is primarily responsible for developing and communicating the message of House Republicans. Mr. Shore worked closely with Members, their staffs, the White House and the Senate to ensure a coordinated message. From 2003 to 2005 he was Director of Policy and Coalitions at the Conference and as such, was chief legislative strategist for the Conference and principal organizer of all coalition activity with the Office of the Majority Whip. He specialized in tax and trade policy while overseeing a professional policy staff charged with covering all issues addressed in the House of Representatives. Additionally, he managed the Conference’s Coalitions and Committee Relations staff. In 2005 he was listed in Roll Call as one of the Hill’s “Fabulous Fifty” top Congressional aides. He was also honored in 2004 and 2005 on The Hill’s list of “Top 35, Under 35” staffers.
Previously, Mr. Shore was the Legislative Director for Congressman Phil Crane (R-IL) where he advised Mr. Crane on all tax and trade policy. Mr. Shore also oversaw Congressman Crane’s legislative operations and supervised his legislative staff. As Chairman of the Trade Subcommittee and one of only three House Republicans on the Joint Tax Committee, the Congressman was a key player in federal tax and trade policy. Prior to working for Congressman Crane, Mr. Shore took a brief hiatus from politics to venture into the “real world” as the Publisher of HillZoo.com. Starting the parent company, L4M, Inc., on a shoe-string budget with former Congressman Bill Sarpalius (D-TX), Mr. Shore created a web- site that is currently viewed by over 10,000 Congressional staffers each week. Other business experience includes forming a small publishing company, while in college, that specialized in creating fraternity and sorority telephone directories.
Mr. Shore spent five years as the health policy advisor to former Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Archer (R-TX). He was the staff architect of Medical Savings Accounts and several key regulatory reform initiatives that impacted physician offices. In addition to these positions, Mr. Shore has served on the staffs of Congressman Jim Nussle (R-IA), former-Senator Robert Dole (R-KS) and former-Congressman John Porter (R-IL).
Mr. Shore is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the National Zoo and serves as President of the Foundation for Evidence-Based Medicine. He is the author of “Medicare Providers Liberties Trampled in Federal Quest to Eliminate Health Fraud,” a paper published by the Washington Legal Foundation and has received the Public Policy Recognition Award from the National Hemophilia Foundation.
While working on Capitol Hill, Mr. Shore earned his law degree, taking evening classes, from the George Mason University School of Law. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Additionally, he has an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Kansas. A native of Glencoe, Illinois, and an honorary Texan (named by then-Governor Bush), he and his wife, Cindi have two children and currently reside in Arlington, Virginia.
